"Welcome to Belgrade" (yes really, this is the first thing you see as you leave the arrivals hall and enter Serbia)

The Hotel and Event Centre

Team GBR Headquarters

A photo for the ID Card

The organisers laid on an overview of the terrain

And where is team GBR?

The team assembles - more "Little" Britain than GBR

We enter the area to "The march of the toreadors"

Team GBR - minus the team leader

The excitement mounts

The Serbian Minister of Defence welcomes us to Tara and Zlatibor

..and then there was the folk dancing

Getting jiggy-with-it

The dancing gets all too much for Robert

Opening Ceremony - the dancing continues (it was really rather good, very energetic - we think it was a fertility dance)

Civilisation - hot army-tea at the finish - really very pleasant indeed

"The clothing bags will be under guard at all times"

2m day: Jan takes it easy (left), Team USA (right)

Dick on the run in (Team Netherlands)

2m day - Michael and Robert

Team Leaders' meeting - "I have had to confiscate a mobile phone"

Team Leader's meeting - it's gripping stuff

Team Leaders' meeting - "I would like to ask 4 questions" - they were about 1. Inadequate toilet paper provision 2. shortage of clothing bags 3. The start clock being 2 seconds out of sync with the foxes - so fox 5 was audible as the start line was crossed and 4. Part of the competition area being visible from the assembly field....

Hotel Omorika - and I am the only one to try "Haste Pudding With Milk" - I failed

Excursion day - having your picture taken with the locomotive

Excursion Day... only reason Mike took up ARDF was the visit to the Sargon-8

Excursion day - it is thirsty work being a railway-dignitary

2m Prizegiving - the Russian D19 team.... click on link for a short video

(The prizegiving was a bit of an ordeal, rather crowded, very hot and we stood up for all 18 national anthems...)

80m day - dawn as seen from our room at 05:40 (buses depart 7:00, last team GBR starter 12:30)

80m day - 4 hours until my start time

The police stake-out the start corridor

80 metre day - the German Team queueing for the toilet - how organised!

80m day - absolutely you will not enter the forest until you are called up...

Novel way of displaying the results (orient tent to North)

80m Finish - Tara

Tourism... Uncle Robert tries some sljivovica

Basil is dressed and ready to go - watch out you Russian Girlies

Guest of Honour at the Ham Fest

The Netherlands Team attempt to corrupt our mascot

Top-table at the Ham Fest - Team Leaders from Belgium, Sweden and Russia

THE END (Until Bulgaria 2006)
